When you blatantly commit a crime in the United States and want to avoid jail time, you hire a good lawyer. If you have enough money to get a really good lawyer, your chances of beating the case go up exponentially. It’s fucked up but it’s also the truth. Shit isn’t like that in the UK.
Clay Bond, an amateur soccer player, and his dad suspected Darren Stott of being a neighborhood bike thief. Despite Darren looking or dressing nothing like the theif, the father-son duo beat the shit out of him, punching him repeatedly, and leaving him covered in bruises.
Despite randomly beating someone who isn’t a bike thief, the two thugs aren’t being sent to jail even though they admitted the crime and were found guilty. Judge Francis Gilbert decided that if the two can raise £500.00 each they’ll avoid jail time. "I want to make this clear”, the judge said “Realistically, the only thing saving either from immediate custody would be the payment of compensation.”
Judge Gilbert even gave them two months to raise the money, if these two can’t raise enough money to stay out of jail in two months, they deserve jail time for being lazy fucks.
